Hello all, just a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Mele Kiripati, Caoimhes new assistant here at Shannon Academy of English. I am based in the new premises here on Connaught street Athlone and excited to start blogging.

Today we’ve had our first group in the new premises and im actually quite disappointed that im not in to see them all on their first day so I am excited to arrive into the building tomorrow morning. Luckily I am hosting one of the students, Sergio (who is lovely and already showing so much enthusiasm about learning the English language) so I’m looking forward to chatting to him tonight about his first day with Shannon Academy.

I will be sure to post new pictures of our first group in our new premises this week!!

Hi – these are short videos taken by some of our French 2010 Workplacements. Well done girls!

New Building!

So we are into a new premises and the decorating has begun! I was very keen on a purple and then a pink………… but decided on two shade of a kinda green in the end. Am very excited about getting up and running and hope to have Au Pair English classes going by the end of the month. The building is very old and has lots of twists and turns I think it’s going to be very interesting. Will keep you posted.

We are on week four with our work experience students from Pau, France. We have five accountancy students working in: The Sheraton Hotel, Elan, The Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone Community Radio and Claire Hickey solicitors. We  also have five administration students working in: the Chamber of Commerce, Elan, Mark Cooney Solicitors the Baston Court Dentist and one with myself at Shannon Academy.

After an intense week of business English, with their teacher Jamie, the girls set off into the world of work and reports back so far are very positive from both the students and the supervisors!

They have spent time getting to know the town and also traveling further a field to Dublin and Galway. Best of luck to them in their second half of their placements.
